So I got it used and of course it won't work.. When I plug it into the wall the red light comes on but when I try to hook it up to the tv.. Nothing I've tryed a new cable already but that didn't work either.. Please help, getting super frustrated

What kind of TV are you plugging the N64 into?
I do recall a similar problem where the PS1 is unable to play on newer TV sets because they don't support the low resolutions of the game. We're talking sub-240p analog resolutions here.
