Partially broke off fan connector

While replacing the MagSafe board I managed to brake one part of the fan connector attached to the logicboard off in the the part attached to the cable. I was able to click it back together however one pin might not be connected to the logicboard. fan still spins but My mac suddenly shuts off while running games and gets 95-100C

Does that one pin make the difference or affect the rpm of the fan?

I fixed my problem in a very unorthodox way.. I took the wires out of the connectors and linked them up directly to the pins. My fan only hit low RPM so i switched the 3rd wire with the second.

arend, yes it does. post an image of your damaged connector with your question so we can see how it broke. It will also help if you can give us your logic board number it should start with an 802-XXXX number. Use this guide to add images

Okay sure look like you need a new connector. Your fan needs 5V Ground, tachometer and motor control to function properly, as well as ground. I suggest that you get it properly fixed. take a look at the back of the connector and see what the solder pads look like. Your connector looks angulated and I would suspect some damage to those pads.
