How do I decrease the number of false alerts?

The SPX 5300 Radar Laser Detector is working correctly, however, it is issuing too many alerts, even when there are no police cars around.

The main reason you are getting a high number of false alert might be because the settings and channels of the Detector are incorrectly adjusted. The factory setting for the device is Highway Mode. If you change your setting to City Mode, the device picks up only stronger signals. To change modes, press and release the city button; when the letter ā€œcā€ appears on the screen, your Detector will be in city settings. The POP mode sensor is also very sensitive, so limiting your use to highway and rural driving should reduce the number of false alerts. To turn on and off the POP mode, press the Dim and City buttons at the same time for four seconds; two beeps mean it is on and one beep means it is off.
