Battery level is not increasing from 0%

Recently i had replaced the display panel of my phone at a local service centre, immediately after that it started taking long time to charge and within few days it stopped charging at all. whenever i connects to the charger a white dot led lights on the top left of the screen and goes off after few seconds. If i press the power button, the screen lit in full white with the battery icon showing 0% power. and goes off after some time.

Have visited the Motorola service centre but, they said it is a mother board problem. A new mother board will cost 8500 INR. Am in a bit confusion, shall i go for a new phone or a new battery can salve the problem.
