Hi

I would disagree. I have just replaced the rear camera lens cover on an iPhone4, by buying a replacement lens cover ( the small circular ring shape) from the internet. Cost was around £3. Fitting it was easy, but bear in mind that the original is glued in place. Also, if you get a replacement, there is a plastic film over the inside (back) of the cover, which will need removing, unless you like all your photos to have that romantic fuzzy look.

New cover is now on and a great improvement over the previous scratched cover.

This place sells the back camera cover, see if it works for you, I'll probably be ordering it soon.

After you open the phone simply use your thumbnails on the lens cover and push firmly -- the glue will give way. Be careful not to scratch the black by trying to pry it with a screwdriver.

Yup, glued into place but replaceable - some more-so than others. Worth a shot before replace the whole back in my opinion. Changed it a couple times with just a little force and the #*% of a sharpie.

I can confirm the lens is easily popped out with minimal force from the back or inside once the back panel is removed from the phone. I don't think it was glued. I popped one out of a relatively new but broken back panel I was replacing and popped it into a used panel I had that had a more scratched lens. I just pushed out onto the bench with a spudger and then pressed the other panel onto it, so no fingerprints were put on it.
