Why does the vacuum not suck dirt even when powered on?

The vacuum is turned on, and I can hear it trying to suck the dirt up, but the vacuum is having a hard time pulling the dirt into itself.

Its possible u have something blocking the air way. That's why ur motor sounds like its working harder than it should. The item , sock, or wad of dirt MUST be removed or u will burn up ur motor. . . kk
