Waterdamage, reboot after screen going standby or pushing powerbutton

The iphone got in contact with water for a short period. I opened it, cleaned it, did everything to get it dry.

Now it works fine as long as display goes in standby, by timer or by pushin power button, it then restarts, works as long as screen goes blank by inactivity or pushing power button.

Did a full reset without luck, still rebooting whenever screen goes off

Answer this question I have this problem too

Hello Luis,

Unfortunately, water damages are really hard to diagnostic.

Any kind of circuit on the board could have been damaged during the event.

In most cases, the logic board is the part in trouble, I would still open up the iPhone and remove every component from it and throroughly clean it once again with an ultrasonic cleaner.

First step after would be to replace the battery. This is a must do when water contact happens. It might even fix your issue! If you don't have an ultrasonic cleaner close, you can try carefully removing the shield on the motherboard and spray it with/or put in to isopropyl alcohol.

Most of the time, that's what got it fixed for most people.

Step 1) Replace battery

Step 2) Good ultrasonic bath of the whole logic board

Good luck!
