What happens if I connected eng.bat. cables to wrong posts on battery

What damage is possible from battery cable mixup. Is there fuse possibly that could have blown or maybe burned up starter?

probably won't hurt the starter, but the rectifier diodes (assuming it has an AC charging system) could be roasted if they flowed too much current during the cross-connect. It is also possible that a fuse might blow, maybe even protecting the diodes...
