Why is my tablet not turning on?

My tablet wont turn on. I keep pressing and holding down the power button but it still wont turn on. I have tried pressing the power button along with the volume button and everything. I'm getting a little worried about my personal information on my tablet that I don't have anywhere else. This has been going on for weeks and I don't have enough money to buy another tablet. Please help. I will be forever thankful.
