we having the same problem turn on then it states please wait then flash up f16 and turn off ? with Panasonic SA8TT 350

F61 is a fan error. The machine switches off if the fan stops. Basically you just need to oil the fan bearing. WD40 is as good as anything. To get at it just peel back the circular sticker and you'll see it. One squirt and you're sorted. In the case of the SA-HT990 you don't even need to open the unit up, just unscrew the fan housing and pull it apart. There's usually two fans. So check them both.

If your getting an f16 error it is a problem with your speaker connections . Are you sure its not a f61 this is a fan issue and will shut the home theatre off but the f16 wont . You just wont have sound

Hi @ glenturret,

Is it possible that the model number is not SA-8TT350 but is actually SA-BTT350?

Also is it possible that the error code is f76 and not f16?

If it is a SA-BTT350 and the error code is f76 then here is a link to the troubleshooting section of the service manual for a Panasonic SA-BTT350P Home theatre system describing what the causes may be.

Hopefully it is close enough to your model (if yours is a SA-BTT350) to be of some help.

I've had this f61 code for over a year now and had no luck with panasonic getting a solution in fact never even got an answer, I was at the point that I was going to buy another disc player but decided to try again to fix this, thank god I came across this solution online, a simple squirt with wd40 and hey presto problem solved. Fantastic. Happy again. Thanks very much to who ever posted the answer.

Hi @Roy Saviour

According to the service manual for the player an F61 error code (see p.25) means a Power circuit system failure and/or direct current flown to speaker terminal.

Go to p.19 to view the Power supply test points.

For a possible direct current flown to speaker terminal problem, check if there is a DC voltage on the player’s speaker terminals. Normally DC is not passed through to the speakers, as this would damage them. Only the AC audio signal is sent. The DC is usually blocked by a decoupling capacitor (see p.78 for the block schematic - unfortunately it isn’t very detailed.

Hopefully this is of some help.
