Front microphone doesn't work after Front Panel Assembly replacement

After replacing the front panel assembly, the front microphone stopped working. The technician who made the repair and after various tests and using another microphone problem persists. The original phone's microphone does work when used on another device. It could be due to a software error on my device?

Answer this question I have this problem too

Is this a good question?

More like a hardware issue. Could be that something next to the connector on the board was damaged during the repair. This is assuming you tested the phone after the damage to the screen, before the attempted repair, and it was working fine back then.

And if it's right, there's nothing to do?

Siri/speakerphone mic is located on the flex cable with the front facing camera & proximity sensor. If you don't have it lined up on the new screen correctly then it won't work. There is a tiny hole on the earpiece mesh itself that it has to be perfectly aligned with. I would check this. Common issue with the 6/6+ screen repairs

Thank you so much! I'll try this as soon as possible. This could be, as I told in another comment, hitting the screen with my finger makes Siri's wave move. So your suggestion makes si much sense.

After replacing the ribbon, at first Siri still did not hear me. I gave up after numerous experiments. The I read the advise from Techygirl, opened the phone again and inspected the base on which the mic is placed. Then looked at the alignment with the mic hole and concluded it wasn't on the exact spot. Also some glue seemed to be in the way. I cleaned up the base, widened the small opening on the base a bit with a needle and assembled the whole thing again. It solved my problem. The mic must be perfectly aligned and nothing should obstruct the airflow. THANK YOU TechyGirl

That's great! Glad to hear. I'm still waiting for the tools to come to try this... Hope mine works after that too...

Dear TechyGirl, I am facing some kind of issue after replacement of iPhone 6 display (phone drop). Other side is not able to hear me using Skype video call (if I kind of screaming on front microphone, the other side can hear me very low). No problem with Skype voice call, also facetime video call works just fine. Is this related to wrong repair / re-assembly of new display ? Display looks a bit shifted up based on home button fit in hole. Thanks a lot. Rasto

I would say it's the same issue with the mic hole not being perfectly aligned on the new screen. Check this alignment on the front facing camera flex. It's a small hole and needs to be perfectly aligned.

Does it work on speakerphone? Or in voice memos?

In speakerphone it doesn't. But in voice memos, voice messages in WhatsApp... It works. I can't say the same in voice messages on iMessage or using front camera, FaceTime or Siri... One interesting thing is that while Siri is active if I hit the screen with a finger nail, the wave moves widely

Which microphone did you replace? The one on the charging port, the one next to the rear camera, or the one on the front camera?

by

I really don't know, because the repair or test was done by the technician who replaced the screen and he don't told me anything but it doesn't work. In the report just wrote bottom microphone and top microphone (just 2 was mentioned) and I think that the front mic wasn't tested.
