Why is the ipad intermittent? It charges but somtimes it dies.

It works perfectly and sometimes it suddenly dies. I tried opening it up and replaced the glass and also put the LCD into another ipad and it works all the time. No luck. Sometimes pressing on the glass near the connector brings it back to life. Nothing visible on the board near the connectors, when inspected at 100X.

Answer this question I have this problem too

When you say " it dies" do you mean that the LCD goes blank but there is still activity (sound) occurring?

Or do you mean that it shuts off and needs to be rebooted? If it is the latter, I wonder if the battery connector is loose? Try tightening the screw on the logic board where the battery connects.

I measured the charging current and voltage. It charges normally whether the screen is working (and the rest of the Ipad) or not. The charging is normal when it lights up or not. It looks like a connection from the LCD screen to the logic board is intermittent.

Sounds like a board level repair. If you are looking for someone to tackle it, JessaBethany on this site comes highly recommended.

It now has changed to a different situation. The ipad only lights up when both buttons are pressed and only stays on for an instant. The left edge of the LCD has alternating dark and light areas. It looks like there is a problem with the video signal that feeds the LCD. It still communicates with itunes. Any suggestions?

It is a hardware problem. It goes back on or restarts when the area of the connector is pressed on the LCD face through the glass. Is there a way to see the underside of the LCD connector?
