Why wont mykeyboard backlight work?

Some time ago I spilt coconut oil on my macbook pros keyboard. It was VERY sticky and the keys constantly got stuck when I pressed them, even after wiping up all the oil and cleaning it with isopropyl alcohol. So I decided to replace the keyboard. After replacing the keyboard the backlight has been messed up. It will only light up down the center of the keyboard. On the blackmat that covers the keyboard there is a low of LEDs. That's what's lighting up. I have no idea how the rest of the keyboard gets lit up when the LEDs are only down the center of the keyboard. If anyone could explain that to me maybe I could come up with an idea of what's wrong.

If you go to http://www.insidemylaptop.com/how-to-rep... and look at their pictures of the blackmat you'll see the row of LEDs going down the center of the mat.

Answer this question I have this problem too

Is this a good question?

Take a multimeter set it to diode mode and turn on the LED's manually touching the probes on each side if some don't fire up you buy a new backlight film . You should have bought a keyboard with backlight and you'd be done with it...just saying :))))
