Mac mini dual hard drive overheating

Hi!

I will put an SSD and a second drive (1TB@5400) inside a few Mac Mini (Model A1283 and A1176), and then leave them to work in a fairly hot environment (..what a sadist..). CPU should not be very stressed, I must add.

Has anyone experienced overheating in Mac mini with dual HDD?

Thank you!

How hot is the environment you are planning on using it? Is there any means to cool the system or at least have some air flow?

See for yourself, it's a steel factory... :S

Should do fine, but I have so far used external storage.

I have installed temperature monitor and alerts, to keep track of it, plus FanControl, and I also have additional ventilation.

PS: how are the Tuscany retirement plans going? ;)

You may want to use a forced filtered air system as you don't want the dust getting inside. That is if it's that exposed to the metal filings.

Dreaming of the day I'm there. Still need to wait a bit. I was thinking on starting off small with a winter retreat around Paola. Then when I sell my home here get something up north. One though was to build a Shipping Container House. Don't know the building requirements in Italy so this may not fly. Any ideas?

Interesting idea, but may not be easy.

Don't want to go off topic: shall we take the conversation somewhere else? ;)

I have a dual drived mini in a glass doored cabinet under my TV with not much ventilation and it's still going strong.

While I don't recommend cooking your system you should try to keep it cool.
