Why is my screen pixelated?

I had opened a video for a school assignment and after a while, the video went haywire and now my display looks pixelated. Can you help me figure out what's wrong? I don't want to lose my files but I am unable to see my options on the screen.

Answer this question I have this problem too

Sophia P, could be a bad LCD or a bad GPU. Attach an external monitor and see if that displays properly. If it does, you have a bad LCD. If it does not than you are having issues with your GPU which is part of your logic board. That of course will require some major repair, i.e. logic board replacement or replacement of the GPU itself if you can get a new GPU for a reball..

Well I plugged a monitor to display and it's still doing the same thing. I just don't understand how a video would do that

Sophia P, do not look at it as in the video having caused this directly. The video just pushes the GPU a bit harder to process, If it is already having issues it does not like the being pushed and subsequently fails.
