Hi,

does the hard drive make any noise? All iPods i had, had a damaged hard drive or a broken hard drive cable..

If you can hear the drive making a noise like: spin-up,click,spin-up,click,spin-up,click,a.s.o. you most likely have a damaged hard drive.

If you can hear the drive spinning up and then a click just once, you might have a broken hard drive cable.

Is the iPod recognized by iTunes, when plugged to a PC? If yes, what happens?
