Repair an intermittent connection with the DC input? (adapter is fine)

At first I bought a new ASUS power adapter but the intermittent power connection problem continued, If I turn the power cord in the socket little by little, I can eventually get the connection to last for several hours but it sometimes takes me 5 minutes to find that "sweet spot". Can a novice repair it or do I have to pay $120 to a professional (I live in a 10,000 population town with one pc repairman)?

Kell Benson, you do not need to spend $120. Check this video about the How-to and then order the jack (readily available at multiple places) and solder it on. Total cost will be whatever the jack costs you.
