Are these parts compatible?

I have two ipod videos both 30gb.

one has the motherboard number 820-1763-a

the other has the number 820-1975-a(gen 5.5 I think) my qhestion is should the other parts (display headphone,click wheel) be compatible with both logic boards???

The other question I have is the small black piece that you have to flip up to get the display cable out of the connector broke off. does this clip merely hold the cable in or does it actually make the connection in the connector?

Hi Joe, I have repaired at least 30 iPod Videos in my time, and all parts such as displays, click wheels and headphone molex's between 5 and 5.5 Gen iPod Videos are compatible with each other. The black piece is just a clip, perhaps a piece of tape should hold the screen connection in place if this black piece is broken, but ensure the screen works before putting the iPod back together. Hope you find this information useful.
