it's possible, but it's a tough job.

ifixit has no guide for that - but when i look at the videos on youtube - i understand why most people should not try that

although only the glass was broken on my iphone 2g it proved far too hard to try and pry it from the digitiser. as a result of my experience i wouldn't recommend it ! i replaced the digitiser and glass as one piece which was far easier...as the guide here says it's very difficult, particularly getting the back cover off. youtube has plenty of guides as markus has shown-watch a few they've got a couple of handy tips.
