When I try to sync my ipod nano to my mac it wont work - I have tried different cables to check that it isnt the cable - any other ideas of what I could try or how to fix it?

does it connect at all? does it charge?
look inside the dock connector on the ipod, sometimes the contacts are bent and can't connect anymore. it's also possible that the contacts are corroded/dirty and you could try to clean them with a paintbrush and isopropyl alcohol (>90%)
