Second hard drive not recognized by computer.

I recently replaced my optical drive with a second hard drive. I put in a 250gb samsung SSD. I put my operating system on the SSD and my computer was running incredibly well. Then one day it was having trouble starting and running very slow. Ive read that the superdrive cable goes bad often. I cannot find a replacement cable anywhere online. Does anyone have any advise. Thanks

It's usually the hard drive cable that goes bad. I replace with the 2012 cable as it is much more substantial. The optical drive cable is Apple part# 922-8622, do a Google search and do not buy a used one. $12.00 is a reasonable price.
