one sided audio jack

Hey guys. I was using my Ipod classic (09 model, 80 gig) last night, and every thing was fine and dandy. plugged in my earbuds today, and I only have sound out of my right earbud. I tried them in another device and they worked fine, wo how might I fix this? Thanks!

You can try cleaning out the headphone socket on the iPod. using compressed air to blow it out, or a thin q-tip and some alcohol. If you are unable to get it working by cleaning, then you will be looking at replacing the headphone socket. Replacing the headphone socket is pretty easy, after you get through the nightmare of removing the iPod back.

sweet. I will try to clean it first. How do you advise removing the back of the iPod if need be?

You have to be patient, as it can be frustrating. I use the iSesamo to get it started (ifixit sells this), and then use thin plastic picks to hold the clips open as i go around the edge. there is a guide on ifixit for opening it, that will help you know the location of the clips.
