Retrieve info off a broken play station 3

I have a PS3 slim and it won't boot up again yet I have some data on there that I need to either delete (so I can redownload) or retrieve it so I can use it again. So I'm trying to transfer my data on my dead PS3 to my new used PS3... How do I go about doing that?

Options

With PS3's you should be able to transfer Hard drives from one to another. If this doesn't work it could mean the HDD is bad.
