every time i try to boot my computer it doesn't completely start but gives me options including diagnosis .I try to diagnose and it responds with error 8 biohd.

ephmund105, "error 8 biohd" is a hard drive error. HP had issues with some bad logic boards that would cause the hard drives to not work. I would definitely start with the hard drive. Try to boot your computer from a USB drive and see if you can run chkdsk with the parameter of "chkdsk /f C:"
