water damage is it short circuited

my sister accidently droped my ipod with fruit punch i think and well now it wont power on i know its not the screen i suspected that at first but it doesnt get warm when plugged in like it should. looking at the insides near the lightning connector their is a sign of dried liquid but the lightning connector and the battery contacts are fine! did she short circuit it?

Yes there is something shorted. But sometimes there is still hope.

If you feel comfortable opening it up use this guide and isopropyl alcohol at least 91% or higher to clean whatever looks corroded with a toothbrush.

If you plugged it in or tried to power the device on, then it's dead. A device will only short out if current is applied to the circuit board, which is what plugging the device in or turning it on is doing. If you haven't turned it on, remove as many parts as possible using an iPod Touch repair guide, and place the parts in front of a fan. Examine the logic board and battery carefully. If there is bulging in the battery or in any capacitors or resistors, then the device is dead. Do not attempt to power the device on. Let all of the parts dry thoroughly before even attempting to power it on. Reassemble the device without using any adhesive. If the device powers on and works, then attach the final adhesive, otherwise, the device is dead.
