transmission is stuck in first gear, meaning I cannot even physically

Transmission is stuck in first gear. I got underneath and took the cable off the transmission and tried to manually get it out of first and got nothing. I doubt my transmission is out as it has not slipped any gears or anything of that nature and the fluids are all up to date. Any suggestions?
