can i upgrade from 8 to 16gb memory on a MacBook Pro 13" Retina Display Early 2015

It can only be upgraded at the time of purchase because it is On-Board RAM with no ram slots.

I hate Apples term here 'Upgrade' as its technically not taking the system apart and really upgrading it! All they are doing is selling you the larger RAM'ed system to start with! Some upgrade! Mike is right on target here! There is no means to alter your system without swapping out the logic board which is just to expensive to do!

You may want to look at how much free space you have on the systems SSD. You should have 1/4 to 1/3 of the drive free (more on the smaller drive'd system). The other direction is to upgrade the SSD, sadly your system is so new there aren't any 3rd party solutions yet to replace your current SSD with a bigger unit. But I still have one Ace up my sleeve! Transcend makes a special SSD that fits into the SD slot giving you a second drive! Here's the info on it: JetDrive Lite. Cleaning things up will speed things up!
