iPad keeps turning off

my iPad mini with Retina just seems dead, I have to hold both buttons to make it come on. Done this now 3 times in days??? Nothing to do with time saving. Bought in December 2013

Options

Could be a software, memory or battery issue...If possible, I would try to restore the iPad with iTunes and see if you can get it to stay on, if that doesn't correct the problem could be a battery issue.
