Can I upgrade from 2.5 to 2.9 mhz?
Logic board has went out on my 2.5. Question is can I upgrade to a 2.9 logic board ? Ill have it broke down anyway, might as well right?

If you get a mainboard for the exact same model with that processor, you can.

Basically, You are limited to what your series offered on the most part. In your case this is the series: MacBookPro9,2. So you can see the high end system 2.9 GHz is possible. Now the next question: if your system is running now I wouldn't waste the time, money as well as the risks of breaking something just to gain so little.
