Why does my xbox shut down every half hour
xbox overheats and turns off every 30 minutes , cleaned the fan in the adapter but did not help

It's overheating try apply new thermo pasted. I recommend mx-4 or mx-5 over artic silver 5. They work better... I been working on game consoles for over 7 yrs and this is the best stuff too use. Also could be the power supply overheating also try get air in a can and blow it in the power brick to clean all the dirt out opening the power supply and cleaning the fan is best but a lot of people don't have the tools to open it and clean it really good.
