VCR Tape Cassette does not properly load

Tape does not enter/load completely to align with the tape guides. Also, the tape guides have hung up part way up their

channels, and won't return to their normal "park" position on the deck. The read head starts spinning when the tape is

inserted, spins a short while, stops, and the tape is ejected. The DVD section of this VCR/DVD combo works.
