LCD flickers and has lines - LCD or logic board?

Hi,

I did a digitizer replacement that I thought went fairly well, however, when I turned the unit on, it showed the apple logo and started flickering with lines. It appears to have powered up normally because it does show the client's locked screen background picture, it just flickers and is full of lines. It also swipes to a jumbled passcode screen. I'm ordering a new LCD and hoping for the best, but do you think this is more likely an LCD or a logic board issue or am I just going to have to wait and see? Thanks.

It's the LCD.

iPad Mini's LCD's are very fragile and break very easily when you pry them out and off the metal shield to which they are glued.

Sometimes you get away with it and break them on the way back in :) Sad but true..

One advice: tread very very lightly when you repair iPad Mini's, especially around those LCD's. You can very easily loose money repairing them.

Thanks for the reply. I'm definitely losing money on this repair. I'll watch the cable when I do the installation.

What cable?

It's the LCD which is damaged, not the cable in my opinion.

By the way, specially for iPad Mini's, you should AT LEAST charge the cost of 1 digitizer + 1 LCD. This way if you break the LCD, you're still covered to at least not loose money.

I don't know if it's too late to answer this problem, but I do it anyway if anyone has the same problem.

I replaced screen on Ipad mini 3 for a customer for about 7 months ago, now he came back with LCD flickering with many lines both on vertically and horizontally. My boss said it cause from bad LCD, there is only 1 way to do is replace the new LCD. My customer left it here for than a month. Some times I opened it and look at that, it still flickering with too many lines as above. This morning, the owner of Ipad called to see if Ipad can be fixed, I told him to replace the new LCD, but it's very expensive, he said no, and will buy the new one. After talking to him I "slapped" the case of Ipad(the Ipad has case with front cover, we can open it like a book) and when open it again, the Ipad become normal. There is no lines no flickering... and it working fine now. Can any one tell what wrong with it in the first place?
