Why is my screen all white?

My screen is white, completely blank. Nothing unusual happened that could have cause it to blank out.

i would first try to make a hard reset: press and hold the menu and the select button untinl the ipod restarts - this will take around 6-10 seconds.

if the screen is still blank after resetting the device - i would open the ipod and check the lcd connector, maybe you should reseat it.

but wait until the ipod is in sleep mode and use the hold switch to prevent the ipod from waking up

if the lcd connection is reseated, i would check the funtion again, use the hold switch and wake up the ipod - if there is still nothing on the screen - it could be a dead lcd or the logicboard died

I have a Nano 2nd gen with similar symptoms. White screen, reset always back to white screen, but it plays music so wouldn’t that rule out the logic board? It’s either a reseat or new lcd, hopefully. Once I get it all together and actually get a chance to throw some afternoons into this, I’ll report back.

Markus,

Thank you taking the time to answer...I have no idea how to open the ipod w/o breaking it or what a LCD connetor looks like, but I appreciate the advice and will check into it. If it works I will certainly post the results!
