Playstation shuts off after flashing green, yellow, and red.

My PS3 is an 80gb fat from 2008. Recently I was playing a game when the system just shut off. After toying with a few other games I learned that is shuts of a different times depending on the game. If I play 2K15 for example it shuts off after 30 minutes or so. If I play Dark Souls 2 it immediately shuts off after the first cutscene. I'm assuming that the problem may be with the blu ray drive, but I'm not sure.
