How can I tell if my camera still works?
I found my dad's camera from when he was younger and before I buy film I want to know if the camera works.
Is this a good question?

It would be a good idea to look it over and make sure that nothing obviously appears to be damaged or broken.
Here is a link to the user manual for the camera, which should have information on its specs and help you see if anything is glaringly wrong with it.
However, certain problems will only evidence themselves via taking pictures, so it would probably be a good idea to buy some film and take some test shots.

Get hold of an empty cartridge that still has juice on it, put it into the camera if the start making a motor rolling trying to eject film noise 99% it will work.
Alternatively you can bring it to our shop in Parkville, Melbourne, Australia a joint called FilmNeverDie, we do free camera testing.
I work in FilmNeverDie.com a shop that specialise in Polaroid camera repair :D
thanks
Gary
