ASUS X555LA Laptop HDD Upgrade/Teardown guide

Has anyone replaced the HDD in the ASUS X555LA Laptop before? I can't figure out how to get into it to upgrade the HDD to an SSD. Does anyone know of any tear down guide?

Answer this question I have this problem too

Is this a good question?

I also have an x555la... it't the HI31103J model if that makes a difference. But any other tips for installing an ssd?

Remove all screws from the bottom, but when you open it, it is more like taking off the top (where the keyboard is). A few ribbon connectors will also need to be detached to reach the hard drive, so do not pull too quickly. There are youtube videos that can easily be searched, on how to open an Asus F555, which is nearly identical. Also take note that if your model is similar enough, then you may also need to remove a small PC board containing the USB connectors closest to where the hard drive is located, as some models actually use the two screws holding to PC board to also hold part of the hard drive tray. If you've ever opened a Dell laptop to replace a hard drive located under the keyboard or top shell, it is very similar.

I could not find any videos with the exact model Asus, but it is very similar to the F555: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=x1tupHjU...

Yes, but you will have to replace the Optical Disk Drive with an adapter to house the second drive such as this one https://www.amazon.com/Deyoung-Drive-Opt... . Just be sure to verify it fits your model.
