Any alternative for IDVD apple no longer supports it

I understand APPLE no longer supports idvd what options I have downloaded applications system refuses to accept .Burning a dvd becomes a question any better alternative please

I went through the site earlier and downloaded 'BURN'but my system does not accept saying it is from a third party not approved by APPLE what options I have,moreover by built in dvd writer flopped and I have an external samsung dvd writer which does not show up on the screen when connected through u.s b port it is becoming a mind boggling situation please help me
