Do I need to replace my screen?

I dropped my iPhone in water about 6 months ago and just recently got it to turn back on and is recognized by iTunes. I took it apart and cleaned with isopropyl alcohol but it wouldn't turn on so I replaced the battery and now it will turn on but the screen is black and unresponsive. Is there anything else I can try or do I need to replace the screen? Thank you!

Chosen Solution
  1. Open up the phone.
  2. Disconnect the battery
  3. Remove the EMI shield over the IC connectors (be very careful to note screw order)
  4. remove and reseat LCD, Accessory, and Digitizer connector
  5. reconnect battery
  6. lay screen on the body loosely
  7. turn phone on
  • if the LCD works, turn phone off again and replace EMI shields. Reinstall the screen.
  • if the LCD still doesn't work, disconnect the battery and then remove the IC connectors and inspect the pins on the logic board for corrosion. This can be sometimes using a toothbrush and a little alcohol.

If none of this works, replacing the screen may be an option. But water damage is very tricky -- costs can be high with not great results.
