Hi @lsmith6660,

The problem may be with your earphone socket. On a lot of modern devices, when you plug into the earphone socket it sends a signal to the audio controller to switch off the audio to the internal speakers.

Fortunately for you the earphone socket (and the attached left speaker unit) are a plug in module.

Here is a link which shows how to replace the battery in your tablet. I realize that is not your problem but it is handy as it shows how to dis-assemble your device so that you can gain access to the earphone/left speaker module.

I suggest that if you do wish to replace the module that you disconnect the battery from the systemboard before you attempt to remove the earphone socket, just in case you accidentally slip while using tools. Even though the tablet is off there is still power available around the board. Be sure to reconnect the battery and test the speakers before you close it up. If necessary, take pictures before you touch/remove anything from inside the case. That way you will have a record of where it goes when you come to reinstall things

Here is a link to the replacement part from the Ifixit shop, (you don't have to use them, it is only to show you what it looks like).

Hopefully this is of some help.
