How can I disconnect the GPU heatsink thermal sensor?

Hi there,

my old (yet replaced) MBP has a problem with its GPU heatsink sensor: it reports more than 40°C higher temperatures than the GPU itself. Fans rev up on boot, SMCFanControl can take care of that, but when the GPU heatsink reaches 85° the MBP shuts off instantly.

I want to change or disconnect this sensor. But where is it and is there a spare part?

Thanks

Matthias

We have guides and parts for the right thermal sensor, left thermal sensor, and heat sink. These are difficult repairs, so keep that in mind. You also want to make sure to always clean and reapply thermal paste when removing or installing the heat sink.

And the sensor glued to the heatsink is the GPU heatsink sensor? And is it available as a spare part?
