New logic boad/mainboard install

I ordered a new mainboard for my GS3 (L710) and I no longer use it for my phone as i now have a gs5. Will I have to "activate" it even though i no longer have service for it? Just using as mainly for music and video so i dont drain my GS5 at work.

No. Shouldn't have to activate it to use it as a multimedia device. You will obviously need to use Wi-Fi rather than LTE however.
