Does imei follow the emmc chip?

I have a galaxy s3 T999 with a bad imei and another one with the emmc went bad. My question is if I were to change out the emmc from the bad imei to the other one with the imei follow? Also with the t999 version where is the chip. It's not like it says emmc on it?
