No heat sensor w/HD. Buy new one or use the old one?

I just bought a seagate 1TB replacement drive (from Ifixit) for my 2009 27" iMac. It didn't come with a heat sensor cable. Can I use the existing one or should I get a new one? I'm not sure if the adhesive will allow me to switch the sensor to the new HD.

Answer this question I have this problem too

Is this a good question?

just peel the current one off of the old drive and stick it to the new one. Then plug it in as usual!

That's what I thought I'd have to do, but after 4 years, will the old sensor be pliable enough and the adhesive still good?
