Sound not working headphones or speakers

I ran Apple Hardware Test, no problems. Sound can be adjusted via Settings app. I tried resetting the sound via Terminal, as well as cleaning out the headphone port but still no sound via the port or speakers.

The sound cables in the computer seemed intact, but I don't know what else to try.

Have you tried a variety of different audio sources on your computer? Sometimes the volume for an individual application can become muted within itself.
