Connection cable from Digitizer to the logic board

I will try to explain this as easy as possible.. I am fixing my 3rd gen iPod touch myself and I successfully replaced the LCD screen but I ran into trouble with replacing the digitizer. I somehow ripped the cable off of the digitizer that attaches to the logic board which isn't a huge deal because I could always order a new digitizer to use but when it ripped off, it also ripped off the other end that it actually connects to on the logic board.. the teethed part that is actually on the logic board.. Do I need to get a new logic board now? & if I replace the logic board, does that get rid of all the stuff on my iPod; does it wipe it clean/restore it? Any feedback would be appreciated. Thanks.
