Wii ejects Gamecube disks without mounting them.

I replaced the drive on my Wii and now when I put a Gamecube disk in, it takes it in and immediately ejects it without fully mounting it. Do some drives not mount Gamecube disks?

The person who sold me the drive told me game cube games would work in it and i just have to swap the logic board on the new one with the old one...no change.
