I installed OS 10.4.11, now my DVD drive won't work?

Want to install OS 9.2, but now my Pismo won't work with any DVD or combo drive I put in. System Profiler sees the drive, but the PB won't run the inserted disk. The DVD-ROM worked when I installed OS 10.4, seems to have stopped after that.

I think it may be that I did not install OS 9 drivers, starting over, will let you know. Thanks!

Was the 10.4 a full retail version or from another machine? It can just be a coincidence that your optical drive died at that moment, or it can be a driver issue. Please provide more details on the DVD.

Did you install the OS9 drivers when you installed 10.4?

Tried re-installing 10.4.6, then used the combo update to 10.4.11. I am at a loss. It seems the DVD drive will read DVDs, but not CDs? Says this computer does not recognize this disk, or something. Hence, I cannot install OS 9.2 from the CD. Could it be the order I have done this successfuly before, and can't figure what I did this time so it doesn't work on this Pismo.

Hi, When I had a problem after installing 10.4.11 Apple had me reinstall the 10.4.11 combo updater. Cured the problem--don't know if it will cure yours but worth a try. (no cost) I am including a link to the updater for you. Ralph.

Hi, The best I can do for you now is to provide the link for the Apple guide on installing OS 9. Ralph
