Why is there an error message on my iPod?

When I plug my iPod in, an error message pops up on the screen and I can't get the iPod to play music. I made sure nothing was blocking the port and I tried turning my iPod and my speaker on and off, but it didn't help. What should I do next?

There are two reasons this could be happening.

1.) The iPod dock could be broken. In this case you should replace the dock.

2.) Your generation of iPod could be too new or old to use the iPod dock. Don't worry though, you can still play music through the speakers by using an Aux cord. To do this, plug one end of the Aux cord in the iPod headphone jack and the other end in the "line in" jack on the back of the speakers. Make sure the volume on your iPod is turned up when using this method.
