I don't have an answer.
I do have a similar problem.
My G4 iBook won't start unless I drop it. and then press the start button.
Then it works fine.
Do you think it is the same issue?

Your problem is different from the other question. Dropping your iBook is NOT a good idea. You probably have a failing hard drive. Tell us what happens when you try to boot without dropping it. Does it hang? What do get on the screen? Do you get a tone?
