WIndows 7 USB storage devices not working while printer is connected?

Hi all,

Just wondering if anyone would have any good input on why a windows 7 computer I am dealing with doesn't allow storage devices to work while the printer is connected.

Once the USB printer is disconnected USB sticks start to work fine. When the printer is connected the computer tries to search for a driver but can't find it. The device shows up in device manager as not working.

I have tried updating BIOS firmware, updating chipset drivers and tried connecting the printer to different usb ports.

I am trying to avoid reloading the computer for such a small issue.

Try this disconnect the printer then remove the printer in the printers listing.

Then download the drivers from the printers support site. Once downloaded run the installer application and when the application asks for you to plug in the printer do so at that time (not before). At that point the print drivers will configured for your system.

This should stop the error condition and should allow you to access your other USB devices.
